In Sufi philosophy, there are two types of communication:
- Qaal (Speech): What is spoken with the tongue.
- Haal (State of Being): What is felt by the heart.
This song is about “Haal.”

अजब गुफ़्तगू है… कि अल्फ़ाज़ नहीं आते,
बात होती है… मगर आवाज़ें नहीं आती।
Translation:
It is a strange conversation… where words do not come,
We speak to each other… yet no voices are heard.
SHER 1 – THE EYES
जो राज़ मेरे लबों पे आने से डरते हैं,
वो तेरी आँखों में पहले से नज़र आते हैं।
Translation:
The secrets that are afraid to come to my lips,
I can already see them reflected in your eyes.
(This signifies a connection where nothing needs to be hidden).
SHER 2 – THE SPIRITUAL BOND
ना ज़िक्र है, ना बयान है, ना कोई कहानी है,
दिल से दिल की ये गुफ़्तगू भी रूहानी है।
Translation:
There is no mention, no statement, no story to tell,
This conversation from heart to heart is purely spiritual.

SHER 3 – SHARED EMOTION
मेरी आँख नम हो तो तेरे अश्क छलक जाते हैं,
तेरी मुस्कान से ही मेरे गुलशन महक जाते हैं।
Translation:
If my eyes get moist, your tears spill over,
Just seeing your smile makes my garden bloom.
(A metaphor for empathy and oneness).
SHER 4 – THE SOUL’S PROXIMITY
फासले जिस्मों के हैं, रूहें क़रीब रहती हैं,
इसी एहसास में ये सारी क़ायनात सिमट जाती है।
Translation:
The distance is only between bodies, our souls remain close,
In this realization, the entire universe shrinks to nothing.
THE SILENCE
रास्ते दूर सही, पर दिल राह ढूंढ लेते हैं,
इन ख़ामोशियों में हम ख़ुद को भी भूल जाते हैं।
Translation:
The paths may be far, but hearts find their way,
In these silences, we even forget ourselves.
(This refers to Fanaa – losing oneself in the beloved).
SHER 5 – MEMORIES
तेरी यादों के साये में मेरी साँसें थक जाती हैं,
बिन कहे ही मेरी दुआएँ लब पे आ जाती हैं।
Translation:
In the shadow of your memories, my breath grows tired,
Without even speaking, my prayers for you come to my lips.

तेरी बातें हवा बन के मेरे दिल को छू जाती हैं,
हर लम्हा तेरा एहसास मेरी रूह में बस जाता है।
Translation:
Your words become like the wind and touch my heart,
Every moment, your presence settles deeper into my soul.

ये कैसा राज़ है, ‘बेला’, इश्क़ के इस जहाँ में,
कि सब कुछ कह दिया हमने बिना लबों के बयान में।

What kind of secret is this, O ‘Bella’, in this world of love?
That we have said everything… without uttering a single word.
